The games end next Saturday.

Zimbabwe clubs Hippo and Hullets have been placed in Group A which has defending champions Sharkia of Egypt and Strathmore University of Kenya.

Ghana’s Golden Sticks and Trustees, expected to mount serious challenge for the 2012 title, have been pooled in Group B together with Nigeria’s Niger Flickers and Yobe Warriors.

Zimbabwe have provided only one team in the women’s category, the Bulawayo Athletic Club Hockey Club and they will battle it out with Custom Ladies and Reformers from Ghana, Telkom Orange and Strathmore University of Kenya and Nigeria’s Heartland Queens.

There is only one group for the women’s competition.

Fixtures for the games have not been released, but the AFHF said any team should have 22 hours at least between two matches and can only play two matches in a row and have a one-day rest.

Ginny Ross from Zimbabwe will be the tournament’s AFHF representative, while Humphrey Chigwedere, also from Zimbabwe, will be a judge in the men’s competition.

Two Zimbabweans, Norman Brackely and Louis Mnyama, will be officiating in the men’s matches, while Hockey Association of Zimbabwe secretarygeneral who will be a judge in the women’s contest.

Other judges and match officials will come from participating countries with South Africa providing umpires Scott Tar (men) and Lyndal Robertson (women). Kenyan teams were expected to be in the country yesterday, while others are due in today.
