In an interview with NewsDay yesterday, hospital superintendent Fabian Mashingaidze said they would soon be appealing to donors for funding.

“We have already tabled the projects we want to carry out at the hospital,” he said.

“As you are aware, our mortuary has been a cause of concern in the past years and we feel that there is need to build a new one. Once we secure funds for the projects, we expect to build a new mortuary.”

Mashingaidze said the hospital intended to upgrade the Opportunistic Infections Unit.

“We appeal to well-wishers and the surrounding community to help in raising funds that are required to realise these projects,” he said.

Gweru Hospital is one of the medical centres in the province that received government funds under the Targeted Approach to Health Service Resuscitation project initiated by the Health and Child Welfare ministry.

The funds saw major renovations at the hospital that included painting and refurbishing dilapidated buildings.
