The talent search and promotion programme will on Saturday present and host four local finest bands performing live on one stage at Alliance Française.

Headlining the concert will be Afro-pop fusion outfit Mookomba that will be performing in the country hard on the heels of their successful European tour they concluded in Liverpool on Friday.

Mookomba is riding high on the crest of their second album Rising Tide that was voted among the top 10 albums for 2012 in the Songlines Magazine.

Last year’s winners of the Music Crossroads finals Savannah Afros together with the 2010 regional winners Club Shanga and Gwarimba make up the list of superb bands set to grace the stage.

All of these performers are products of MCZ and they have toured many countries in Europe.

The event has been dubbed the “Showcase Mission”.

Presented by MCZ in conjunction with the Culture Fund, this platform strives to present great musical events, with a strong focus on building a community of performers and venues in the capital.

The showcase also focuses on promoting bands that have gone through the hands of MCZ with a particular aim of bringing some trust and community to the mix.

MCZ director Mathias Bangure said: “This is a billing targeted at assisting our bands with all the resources and support they require.

“This is after we realised that promoters are not doing enough to support local bands and up-coming artists, so the idea is to help these performers take their careers professionally.

“We have plans to put up a musical academy, but our focus now is to assist these bands through linking them to global connections that earns them exposure is beneficial to their growth.
