NATIONAL Under-17 men’s soccer team captain Carlos Mavhurume says their match against Congo Brazzaville at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon will act as an appetiser for the Warriors’ decisive Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon)qualifier against Angola in Luanda tomorrow.

Report by Henry Mhara, Sports Reporter

The Young Warriors engage their Congo counterparts in the African Youth Championships second round first leg qualifier while the Warriors are just 90 minutes away from South Africa 2013 Afcon finals.

The second leg is set for Congo in two weeks time.

Mavhurume says they want to win against Congo so as to boost people’s morale ahead of the Warriors’ make-or-break tie.

“Ours is an appetiser, but the big match is in Angola. We have to win this match to raise the excitement that has engulfed the nation,” said Mavhurume.

The Chisa Academy striker has urged fans to turn out in large numbers and rally behind the Young Warriors.

“It’s good that the match is tomorrow (today) because had we played on Sunday, it would have been a counter-attraction to the Warriors match.

“My plea is for the fans to come and watch us play. We want them to come and rally behind us. We want to have that feeling of playing at home.

“The team has prepared well, and I think we will win with a good margin,” added Mavhurume who has promised the nation at least two goals.
