What you fear is afraid of you

Opinion & Analysis
Many people, if not all people, have incredible dreams and visions for a successful life.

Many people, if not all people, have incredible dreams and visions for a successful life.

Report by Erasmus Makarimayi

Many of you have an appetite for greatness and are itching to leave an indelible mark in your chosen field of human endeavour.

The greatest challenge is that after serious consideration and calculation, or miscalculation, you decided the odds were against you. Probably your peers told you no one had ever succeeded under the same conditions as yours.

Today I want to go to the flip side and show you what your obstacle, opposition or adversity is thinking and saying about you.

Your opposition is afraid of your advancement and is working overtime to strategise how to dishearten and derail you. The obstacle is holding endless board meetings on how to delay you and persuade you to quit.

You know how much sports teams are so afraid of their opponents. I am not a soccer fan, but I think my assumption will not be far from the truth if I proffer that in tomorrow’s soccer match, Angola is afraid of Zimbabwe and vice versa.

The only reason why you are defeated is that your opposition has chanted an intimidatory war cry before the match while you watched and didn’t intone yours, but you made matters worse by decampaigning yourself and worse, still enlisted services of those who say it can’t. The obstacle you fear is instead, having sleepless nights because of you. Challenge your fear, be courageous, your victory is assured.

For Christians, it’s helpful to know God’s assurance of victory and success if you are to enjoy your promise. God assures you that He goes ahead of you and warns anything that stands in your way to flee. He will market you and as soon as you step on the scene, obstacles will melt away. All you need to do is take the first step.

Exodus 23:27 confirms it: “I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.” God has already spoken to anything that is opposing and denying you and occupying your inheritance. Deuteronomy 11:25 supports thus: “There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the Lord your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.” All you need to do is to hear from God and trust Him.

Rahab, the harlot who was in Jericho, assured the Israelites that their obstacle feared them. Joshua 2:9-11 reads: “And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.” If the opponent is in support of you then the only opposition is probably you.

To clarify it to the Israelites, God makes Gideon hear the testimony of the enemy camp. Judges 7:13-14 reads: “And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.”

Remember you don’t fight human beings but the devil and your victory is guaranteed if you go in Jesus’ name who has all the power according to Matthew 28:18: “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Go out and take your possession. Don’t fear anything; what you fear is trembling in the corner, God has sent your good report ahead of you. Question your doubt and believe God and advance in life. You are going somewhere.
