The Scot is currently preparing his side for next weekend’s must-win qualifier against African champions, Zambia, in Kampala.

He was speaking to Supersport.com after training when Williamson made the pointer. “If it (qualification) happens,” he said, “It would be fantastic. It would be the biggest success of my career and of all these players’ I would imagine.”

Williamson’s managerial successes include winning the Scottish Cup in 1997 with Kilmarnock and three Cecafa titles with the Cranes.

As the Cranes head into next weekend’s crucial affair, in which they need to win by a two-goal margin to be sure of qualifying for the finals in South Africa, Williamson is aware Uganda last qualified for the Nations Cup in 1978.
