Report by Rebecca Manhovo, Own Correspondent Tuku has indeed proved to be a hero in the Zimbabwe music industry. The 60-year-old singer seems to be getting better with age if the popularity that his latest album Sarawoga and new DVD titled Nzou NeMhuru is anything to go by. Tuku Music sales and distribution manager Faith Mashonga said the two releases were doing very well. “Nzou NeMhuru  is selling like hot cakes and the demand for Sarawoga is also high. The DVD has become very popular as it relates to Tuku and his late son Sam, with the father being the nzou (elephant) and the son as mhuru (calf),” said Mashonga. After Tuku’s recent solo performance at Happy Days Restaurant in Avondale, Harare, a number of fans were left crying for more when he sampled some of his new offerings. Happy Days restaurant director Lewis Chasakara said the event was in line with Tuku’s birthday celebrations. “The event was meant to give an opportunity to all other Tuku fans that did not make it for the ‘Tuku@60 Bash’,  particularly mothers and children who enjoy the legendary singer’s music,” he said.  Chasakara is also chief operating officer for Hotels and Leisure Africa which operates Mount Clair Resorts and Casino. “Tuku has continued to produce only the best of his music and definitely on his latest album he has managed to once again outdo  himself” added Chasakara.

 

On sale at the event were some of Tuku’s greatest hits albums such as the latest Sarawoga, Bvuma, Tsimba Itsoka and the DVD Nzou NeMhuru.
