He was 27.

The talented attacking right-winger was set to be buried yesterday at Warren Hills Cemetery in the capital. Mucheni played for Caps United juniors for many years and recently, he was crucial in the Triangle bid to bring Premiership action to Chiredzi and had eight goals under his name in the campaign.

Triangle head coach Gishon Ntini said the death of Mucheni was a sad blow to his side’s campaign, but believed he would be with them in spirit. “He was an exciting winger. When chips were down he would take things into his own hands. It is a sad blow to other players and in our campaign for promotion. I believe he was someone who believed in hardwork and I know he will be with us in spirit,” he said.

Triangle captain Tineyi Meda said: “It’s a loss to the club in our quest for promotion.”
