CAPE TOWN — Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns played out a goalless draw in their South African Premier Soccer League clash at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It was a game of missed chances and opportunities saved, with Sundowns goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands picking up the Man-of-the -Match award for keeping his side in the contest.

But both of these struggling sides were guilty of a lack of cutting edge in front of goal in an open and entertaining clash.

In other action, nine-man SuperSport United held on for a nervy 1-1 draw with Wits University in Atteridgeville.

The draw extended United’s unbeaten league run of eight consecutive encounters, while it also marked their seventh draw this campaign. A late Katlego Mashego goal saved Moroka Swallows as they fought back for a late 2-2 draw with Black Leopards in their match at Dobsonville Stadium.

Thuso Phala netted a double as Platinum Stars demolished Free State Stars 4-0 in their rain-interrupted Premiership match in Phokeng. Experienced frontman Norman Smith notched a brace as Golden Arrows beat Premiership strugglers Chippa United 2-0 at King Zwelithini Stadium.
