Set in the UK, the film portrays the conflict between cultural beliefs and modern day dynamism portrayed in the most basic yet crucial platform of marriage.

The film is about a UK-based man who decides to marry a white woman who has four children from an equal number of marriages.

The man’s parents question the marriage while their daughter-in-law is defiant and wants to teach her in-laws what it is like to be white and liberal.

The plot examines numerous themes hinged on African ideologies while displaying the irreversible infiltration of Western cultures in African family set-ups. This is further portrayed in their son’s rebellious granddaughter — a rebellious teenager from their son’s previous marriage. The granddaughter is later sent back to Africa because of her wayward behaviour.

Karonga said though they had not yet managed to secure a venue for the premiere, she was excited to be coming to Zimbabwe with her film. “This is a successful Zimbabwean film from the UK and that is some achievement,” said Karonga.

“We are yet to finalise on the venue which is why I will be in Harare in a week’s time to make sure everything runs smooth.”

A psychiatric care co-ordinator, Karonga has broken new ground for Zimbabwean film makers by becoming the first-ever Zimbabwean producer and director of a successful Zimbabwean production. Karonga moved to Luton in 1997. She won Best Upcoming Actress at the Film Festival&Academy Awards in 2011 for her performance in Thorns, becoming the first Zimbabwean to win the award.
