Mavericks started off their campaign on a good note, beating Abundant Life Christian Centre (ALCC) 56-50 and Stars 52 -39.

The league debutants also beat Oilers 62-56 until last Friday’s 48-35 loss at the hands of Highlanders.

Mavericks have players who include William Muchuchuti, Garikai Gumbo, Garth Hussey, Kudzai Murisi and Kevin Mayingire. Mthokozisi Sithole, Crayton and Elton Moyo are also in their books.

Experienced Ernie Noble, Muchengeti Hamandishe, Mandla Moyo, Olfie Dollie and Lionel Wolfenden are the players to watch at Giants. Milton High School developmental side is up against Oilers today.

Milton were awarded a 20-0 walkover after Midlands State University (MSU) failed to turn up for the game.

Milton had earlier lost 78-30 to ZB Titans in their first league encounter before suffering a 84-11 defeat to defending champions Unicorns.

Highlanders, who have been impressive so far, clash with Kings tomorrow, while ALCC meet Oilers in another match lined up for tomorrow. ALCC walked away with maximum points after MSU failed to pitch up at the game venue last week, while Oilers lost 42-37 to Kings after losing 58-52 to Giants.
