Report by Daniel Nhakaniso Sports Reporter The curtain came down on an entertaining season at the weekend with Harare Sports Club being crowned champions after beating Matabeleland Warriors 22-19 in an exciting final.

Soon after the conclusion of the final, the Sables’ technical department announced a strong provisional squad for the tournament to be played between November 12 and 18 in Windhoek.

Zimbabwe, who will use the tourney to prepare for the next phase of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, will join the host Namibia, Spain and a South African Barbarians side at the tourney.

Sables’ team manager Losson Mtongwiza said the squad would meet twice a week. They met for the first time at the National Sports Stadium’s B arena late yesterday.

The squad announced on Saturday features a number of players, who are part of the national Sevens squad, which recently qualified for next year’s IRB Sevens Rugby World Cup.

Some of the players in the Cheetahs’ squad who have not featured for the Sables include Justin Coles, Graham Kaulback, Tafadzwa Chitokwindo and Jonathan McWade.

The quartet joins fellow Cheetahs’ teammates Fortune Chipendu, Jacques Leitao, Danny Hondo, Tangai Nemadire, Wes Mbanje, Gardner Nechironga and Njabulo Ndlovu, who have all regularly featured in both formats of the game.
