Harare City . . . . . . . 0 Blue Rangers . . .(0) 2 BLUE Rangers edged closer to relegation safety after beating Harare City in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.
REPORT BY HENRY MHARA SPORTS REPORTER
David Temwanjira scored a second half brace to lift Rangers above Hardbody at 13th position with 24 points.
The Patson Ndabambi-coached side are just two points shy of Hwange who sit just above the relegation cut-off point. City remain on eighth position with 32 points.
The hosts had much of the possession in the first half, but barring a missed chance from a one-on-one situation by striker Silas Songani early in the first half, City never looked like they would score and they should be happy that the punishment was not more severe.
Rangers dominated play in the second half and two well-taken goals by Temwanjira, both from inside the box, gave a true reflection of the second half display by the two sides.
More importantly, the enthusiasm of Rangers caught the eye.
Even after taking the lead on the hour mark, the visitors never stopped attacking and were further rewarded two minutes into added time when Temwanjira completed his brace with a rising shot.
