MAPUTO — Mamelodi Sundowns winger Elias Pelembe Dominquez will be going to Morocco with his country’s national team at the weekend despite being traumatised by a burglary and assault that left him unable to play last Saturday.
Report by Supersport.com
Dominquez was named in the final 22-man squad that meets Morocco in Marrakesh this Saturday seeking to win a place in next year’s finals in South Africa.
Mozambique have a 2-0 lead from the first leg that included a last minute goal from the South African-based payer.
But he did not compete in the Premier Soccer League last weekend after requesting to be left out of the home game against Platinum Stars, that Sundowns lost 0-1 to continue their crisis of confidence.
He had been held up and assaulted in his home and allegedly had a large amount of cash stolen. Team mate Clayton Daniels had his car stolen in the same incident.
Dominquez is one of five foreign-based players that the Mambas have chosen to travel to Morocco.
They are preparing in Lisbon this week before heading to Marrakesh for the match on Saturday night.
