Mashonaland West acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera said he was unaware of the incident, but impeccable sources said Dube-Marumahoko was arrested on Friday and would appear in court today. “I am not aware of the arrest of the mayor, check with me tomorrow (today),” Kohwera said.

Sources said the town’s acting mayor turned himself in at Chinhoyi Central Police Station while on his way to the Chinhoyi University of Technology graduation ceremony where he was an invited guest.

He subsequently spent the weekend in police cells.
