KWEKWE — Police in Kwekwe yesterday said they were investigating an incident in which a Mbizo man, Admire Kadamoyo (29), was allegedly hacked to death in a beer hall brawl on Tuesday night.

According to police, Kadamoyo was struck several times with a machete and later died yesterday as he was being transferred from Kwekwe General Hospital to Parirenyatwa in Harare.

According to police, the incident happened at Cold Spring Bar in Mbizo.

Sources close to the investigations said the brawl started after Kadamoyo accidentally spilled beer on the suspect only identified as Smart.

An eye witness told NewsDay that Smart, who is now on the run, pulled out a machete from his car and savagely attacked Kadamoyo before driving away.

Good Samaritans then rushed Kadamoyo to Kwekwe General Hospital.

Criminal Investigations Department spokesperson Assistant Detective Lawrence Machingura confirmed the murder, but declined to give details.

“Investigations are being conducted in Mbizo and I am not yet in the full picture, but we are now hunting for the suspected killer who is on the run. Anyone with information should forward it to their nearest police station,” said Machingura.
