Thulani Ndlovu was not asked to plead to criminal insult charges when he appeared before Nkayi magistrate Ndumo Masuku on Monday. Public prosecutor Maxwell Hapanyengwi told the court that Ndlovu is married and has his own homestead in the same area.

Hapanyengwi said between October 2010 and August this year, Ndlovu would allegedly visit his brother’s wife Nomusa Ncube whose husband works and resides in South Africa allegedly demanding to have sex with her.

It is the State case that Ncube refused to sleep with Ndlovu, prompting him to insult her labelling her a witch.

Ncube later informed her husband about the alleged abuse and subsequently reported the matter to police, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest. The court remanded him in custody to October 29 for trial.
