LIMPOPO — A 22-year-old man has been arrested for raping six girls and two boys in Bolobedu, Limpopo, South African police said yesterday.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the man lured the children into his tuckshop, gave them snacks and raped them.

“The suspect is said to have been sexually abusing children since 2008 and has been using the same modus operandi of luring children to his spaza shop,” he said.

After a teacher noticed something unusual about the children, they revealed what had happened. The teacher went to a social worker, who informed the police.

The man was expected to appear in the Bolobedu Magistrates’ Court today, said Mulaudzi. -Sapa
