Kapini itching to get back

DURBAN — Zimbabwe football captain Tapuwa Kapini hopes to make his return from injury soon in an effort to at least rescue AmaZulu’s floundering season.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper found it extremely difficult having to watch his countrymen go down 2-0 at home to Angola on the weekend. The result effectively killed off the Warriors’ hopes of 2013 African Cup of Nations qualification.

Kapini has been sidelined since August with a torn ligament in his left foot, although he could make an appearance at training next week. But it’s Usuthu’s plight that is of his immediate concern – they head into Saturday’s Telkom Knockout Last-16 clash with Platinum Stars languishing at the foot of the PSL table.

“I’m feeling much better, I can’t complain. It’s very disappointing that we (Zimbabwe) lost against Angola and the whole country is crying,” Kapini told the club’s official website.

“(But) as one of the captains and experienced players in the team, it is very disappointing the way we’ve been struggling. We’re just waiting and hoping for that moment when we will turn the corner.”

Meanwhile, Kapini isn’t under-fire coach Roger Palmgren’s only casualty ahead of the Ziwa Mo encounter at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. Kagiso Senamela is out of action with a torn hamstring, along with fellow midfielder Nyiko Tshabangu. – Football411.com
