HIGHLANDERS beat defending champions Unicorns 50-44 at Bulawayo Club for the Disabled (BCD) on Saturday to maintain pole position in the Southern Region Basketball League.

Kudzai Mugezi netted 12 points for Highlanders while Tatenda Tswatswa got 19 points for the losing Gweru side Unicorns.
Highlanders have collected 18 points from nine games and remain the only unbeaten in the league with Unicorns on second spot with 13 points from seven games.
New side Southern Mavericks, who have had a good season in their debut appearance in the league, tied on 13 points with Unicorns and sitting on position three, beat Kings 54-40 on Friday with Craig Matanda notching 12 points and Garth Hussy also getting 12 for Mavericks.
Maverick have only lost one game from seven matches with Kings on position four with 13 points from eight games, losing three games.
Giants got two points without bouncing a ball after Milton Developmental side failed to turn up for their game on Saturday.
Oilers dispatched ZB Titans 76-45 with Shadel Noble getting 16 points for Oilers while Stanlak Gumbo got 11 for ZB Titans.
Abundant Life Christian Centre beat Stars 63-57.
In another match that was played on Friday, log anchors Stars were on the receiving end once more as they lost 77-66 to Oilers with Mitchelle Siso grabbing 19 points for Oilers.
