GWANDA — A local commuter omnibus rank tout is in trouble after he allegedly grabbed and fondled a shop attendant’s breasts before kissing her on the cheek without her consent.

Report by Silas Nkala, Staff Reporter

Martin Dube of Senondo, Gwanda, represented by his lawyer Makalista Ncube, pleaded not guilty to indecent assault when he appeared before magistrate Innocent Bepura last Friday.

The magistrate remanded him out of custody to October 9 on free bail. Prosecutor Jefta Nyikadzinashe told the court that on June 30 this year Dube went to Dickies hardware shop in Gwanda where the complainant works as an attendant.

On arrival, he found complainant mopping the floor.

He allegedly grabbed her from behind and fondled her breasts. Dube allegedly further kissed the complainant’s right cheek without her consent.

She reportedly tried to escape, but Dube maintained a hard grip on her.

In denying the charges, Dube told the court that they were close friends with complainant and they would often “play like that”.
