The competition will feature six Under-18 teams: Bantu Rovers, Highlanders, Chicken Inn, Ajax Hotspurs, Lobengula Missionary Society and FMH.

The main objective is for people to get to the site where they will get free HIV testing, CD4 count services and referrals to Mpilo Hospital Opportunistic Infections (OI) Clinic, family planning services and tuberculosis screening.

Programme manager Tanya Sibanda yesterday said: “We are hosting the VCT tournament working with Matabeleland Aids Council and New Start Centre where they will be giving free HIV testing on site.

“The main objective of the competition is for people of all ages especially the youth to get to the site and get these services for free, including family planning services, referral to Mpilo OI Clinic and TB screening. We are also going to be sensitising the community on the new male circumcision clinic that has been opened.”

The football tournament will be run in round-robin format and the team with the highest points at the end of the day will receive a trophy and medals, while the runners-up will be given medals.

The first edition of the competition was won by Bantu Rovers in April, while Mpopoma High School won the second in June.

Notable players that have participated in the tournament include France-based Marvelous Nakamba who plays for AS Nancy, Bantu Rovers twins and Under-20 Young Warriors’ players Kelvin and Elvis Moyo, United States-based Ray Lunga and Chicken Inn linkman Kudakwashe Mahachi.
