Gondo went into yesterday’s final of the 32-hole tourney with a five-shot lead after an irresistible six-under-par 66.

Although he was not as solid in the final round yesterday, his score was still good enough to earn him his second victory on the Golden Pilsener Zambezi Tour circuit after ending on four-under-par 140.  He walked away $3 600 richer for his efforts.

Gondo’s breakthrough victory on the local circuit came at the Open Classic at Chapman Golf Club in June.

Rookie Nyasha Muyambo, who was eyeing his maiden professional title, was tied for second place with seasoned pro Ignatius Mketekete and were both shot back on three-under par 141. The duo both walked away with $3 270 each. Muyambo, a former top amateur before he turned professional recently, was consistent throughout the weekend after following up his opening round 71 with a closing two-under-par 70.

Veteran professional Roy da Costa settled for a solo third place finish and $1 620 after closing with a superb three-under-par 69 to compensate for his opening round 75 on Saturday.

Seasoned local player Tongo Charamba, who was one of the pre-tournament favourites, finished in fifth position after carding a two-over-par 146 ahead of Trainos Muradzikwa, who settled for sixth position.
