Her three-year-old brother who had also fallen into the same pool was rescued by villagers.

Mashonaland West acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the death of Alice Nhidza of Bishopstone village, Kadoma.

He said on October 9 at around 3pm in Bishopstone, the now-deceased and her brother, Tadiwanashe, slipped from edges of the pool and plunged inside, while their mother Sthandiwe Maregere (20) was doing her laundry nearby.

“The two tried to swim out of water and were spotted by Abinus Ngwenya (17) of the same village who then screamed for help. The children’s mother and other villagers rushed to the scene and found the girl already dead. They managed to rescue Tadiwanashe,” Kohwera said.
