Guests who attended the event at the Book Café were taken back to 2004 when Afrika Revenge shot to fame before splitting under unclear circumstances in 2006. The two thrilled fans as the joint performance had not been planned for.

Asked if the Afrika Revenge duo would get back together, Willis said only time will tell. “If Taz is serious about coming back to the music industry then I will consider working with him again.
“For now he casually joins me on stage here and there but it’s nothing serious,” he said.

Taz was non-committal when asked about a possible reunification, saying he could not make a promise at the moment.

Alexio Kawara and South Africa’s soulful singer Ntando Bangani shared the stage with Willis in a ground-breaking performance. The two artistes were the headline act at the jazz festival which ended on Sunday afternoon.

Ntando and Alexio, two incredible performers and dynamic singers, left fans mesmerised when they blended their musical styles and performed Alexio’s Shaina and Ntando’s Dali Wami.

They were backed by Alexio’s band Shades of Black which did justice and fused the Ntando-Alexio vibe. Besides their usual soulful songs, they sang reggae and dancehall tunes including Ntando’s Ngiyosebenza, Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry, Lucky Dube’s I’ve got You Babe and Sizzla’s Rise up Zimbabwe.

Alexio was impressive in his joint seamless performance because he managed to grasp Xhosa words well in a short space of time, as he sang along Ntando’s tracks.

They performed Ntando’s songs Ngomso, Uyakhumbula and Ndiyamthanda. Alexio performed his hit tracks, Chibvugubvugu, Musikana Akanaka, Shamwari and Save.

After the show Ntando said he enjoyed collaborating with Alexio, describing him as a talented artist.

“Alexio is quite talented and what I love most about him is that he is humble.

“It is always nice working with such an artist as it is easier to understand each other. He is also diverse as he can sing on top of different beats,” he said.

Ntando added that he would consider collaborating with Alexio for shows in South Africa as the two artists have similar styles. They both love to sing about romance.
