FORMER Warriors goalkeeper Japhet Mparutsa had predicted the first 20 minutes would be crucial in the final leg of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nation qualifier against Angola in Luanda on Sunday. Warriors were annihilated by two quick goals scored by Concalves Manucho inside the first seven minutes.

Before the match on Friday, Mparutsa had said if the Angolans scored a goal in the first 20 minutes, the Warriors were supposed to go on the counter-raid and try to defend.

Yesterday, Mparutsa, now based in the United Kingdom, was back on social network Facebook: “First 20 minutes like I said. We were beaten in the first 20 minutes.”

Football fans were disappointed by the loss and shared diverse sentiments on Facebook. Who was to blame really?

Khulumani “Tshux” Ashley Tshuma: “Rahman Gumbo tried to use the strategy ‘the best way to defend is to attack’, but it back-fired because of old legs he trusted at the back. He was fooled by the Asiagate committee that released party spoilers and he disbanded the true Warriors. Locals are better in defence.”

Themba Ndlela: “Mzansi90 started all this with the hope of quick success. It destabilised the team with supposed gurus coming with their line-ups. There is no way that players that have not played together would have been well co-ordinated.

“We were hoping for a gamblers’ luck. Planning is critical for success. Zifa is to blame for all this. They have spent more time on politics than on managing football on our behalf.”

Nodumo Nyathi: “Using those Asiagate culprits altered Rahman’s plans and we paid for it.”

Moses Dungwa Chirwa: “We are to blame.”

Corny Contake Mikazhu: “Zifa board.”

Victor T Burukai: “Noel Kaseke, Tinashe Nengomasha, Knowledge Musona, tough luck! Khama Billiat, you are a star!”

Mayibongwe Komba: “Zifa.”

Dumisani Danie Mpofu: “Players.”

Mthandeni Ndlovu: “Everyone! That was very disappointing.”

Trymore Dhliwayo: “Coach and his old players. We need young players.”

Augustine Nyamunda: “Nyasha Mushekwi is a missing link in that Warriors squad together with Matthew Rusike.”

Mathias Muchandiona: “This is football.”

Fanisani Dube: “Zifa board has too many characters.”

Richard Mpfupi: “Zifa, coach and old players like Tinashe Nengomasha etc.”

Sam Nandiri: “We need to see immediate action from the Sport and Recreation Commission! Even if it means being banned by Fifa for government interference!”

Siphambaniso Dube: “Rahman Gumbo, (David) Mandigora and Peter Ndlovu should stay. We have seen the potential in these guys and there is potential in the youngsters. All we have to do is plug holes in our weaknesses. Let’s invest in our future. That is the only medicine.”
