Panganai Zimhuno, the acting headmaster of Sijawugwe Secondary School, who lost 13 Ordinary Level examination papers, was arrested on Wednesday, but the State declined to prosecute.

REPORT BY SILAS NKALA STAFF REPORTER

Prosecutor Danny Ndebele argued there was no evidence that Zimhuno stole the papers.

Zimhuno mysteriously lost examination papers for six “O” Level subjects after he loaded them on the trailer of a Bubi-bound commuter omnibus over the weekend. The Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council has since withdrawn the affected papers countrywide following the incident with a view to setting new papers for the respective subjects.

Meanwhile, the national co-ordinator of the Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe, Enock Paradzayi, was arrested yesterday after he allegedly attempted to block Zimhuno from signing a police warned-and-cautioned statement in connection with the alleged theft.
