GOKWE — Two bus conductors were on Tuesday slapped with an effective nine-month jail term each for driving without   licences.

Shepherd Gombami (29) of Gokwe and Charles Tinarwo (25) of Warren Park D, Harare, were yesterday found guilty of contravening the Road Traffic Act when they separately appeared before Gokwe provincial magistrate Shepherd Mjanja.

Both Gombami and Tinarwo were each sentenced to 12 months in prison of which three months were conditionally suspended for five years. Gombami and Tinarwo were employed as bus conductors by John Yoana and Mavhima bus companies respectively.

The pair was arrested at Gokwe business centre on October 4 during a police blitz targeted at touts and unlicenced public vehicle drivers.
