Dube was convicted of the charge despite his plea of not guilty when he appeared before Gwanda magistrate Innocent Bepura on Monday. The court initially sentenced him to  two  months in jail, which was wholly suspended on condition he performs 210 hours of community service at Phakama Clinic in Gwanda.

The State had submitted at the close of the defence case that there was overwhelming evidence linking Dube to the crime.

Public prosecutor Jefta Nyikadzinashe told the court that on June 30 this year, Dube, who is a tout at the Bulawayo-bound commuter omnibuses rank in Gwanda, went to a hardware shop where the complainant, Tracy Dzotsa (20), works.

He found  Dzotsa mopping the floor.

Dube  grabbed her from behind and fondled her breasts while holding her tight.

He further kissed Dzotsa’s right cheek without her consent. In his defence, Dube told the court that Dzotsa was his close friend and they used to play in that manner.
