WARRIORS defender Onismor Bhasera is confident the Warriors will prevail in Angola and qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The Warriors carry a healthy 3-1 lead to the second in Luanda on October 14 and are just 90 minutes away from qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations for just the third time in their history.

“I’m sure the job is about 70% done,” Bhasera told BBC Radio Devon.

“We go into the game with an advantage, we just need to try and hold them off and hopefully we’ll qualify.”

The Argyle left-back, who won his 19th cap for the Warriors in the first leg at Rufaro Stadium, said he was looking forward to representing his country.

“It’s my country and I have to give back to the community and if am fit I’ll do my duty and take part,” he added.

“I also have to work hard for my club, but it’s a privilege to be playing for my country.”

Bhasera faces a long journey, a 13-hour flight from the UK to South Africa tomorrow before another one and half hour trip to Harare. He will join up with his team-mates for a few days before the squad makes another eight-hour journey to Luanda for the match on October 14. And Bhasera says he is feeling the best he has for a number of years at this stage of the season.

“I’m very happy, I’ve started very well and I’m happy that pre-season went well with no injuries,” he added.

“It’s the first time in three seasons I’ve not had any injuries in pre-season.” Meanwhile Bhasera is convinced he will not have to wait much longer for his first goal of the season for Argyle after coming ever closer to scoring last weekend.

The former Kaizer Chiefs player has in recent matches been used on the left of midfield, which has given him the opportunity to push forward into scoring positions. He could have had a hat-trick in the first half of Argyle’s 1-1 draw against Southend United at Home Park last Saturday, but could not convert any of his chances.

The 25-year-old believes it is only a matter of time before he gets a goal. Bhasera told Herald Sport: “I could have scored in the past three or four games. I have been trying to get in the right positions.

“I just need to keep doing that and I’m sure a goal will come soon.” Bhasera has made 78 appearances for Argyle over the past two-and-a-half years and grabbed three goals. The last time he scored was on March 3 earlier this year, in a 2-1 away win against AFC Wimbledon.

Bhasera headed home only 12 seconds after the kick-off for the second-fastest goal in club history. Wimbledon are the visitors to Home Park for a League Two fixture today and Bhasera is hoping history will repeat itself and he can get on the scoresheet.

“Wimbledon away was my last goal,” he said. “It’s something I will always remember and I would be very happy to score against them again.”

“I’m feeling fit and in football that’s the most important thing before everything else.

“I’m happy with my fitness and also with my performances. I just need to keep going and work very hard.”
