ANGOLA coach Gustavo Ferrin will recall Manucho Goncalves and Djalma Campos to the team for tomorrow’s AFCON qualifying final round.

ANGOLA coach Gustavo Ferrin will recall the duo of Manucho Goncalves and Djalma Campos to his starting team in the hope of adding more firepower to his strike force for tomorrow’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying final round, second leg football qualifier against the Warriors at the November 11 Stadium.

The expatriate Uruguayan coach came under fire from the Angolan fans after he left the trio on the bench during the first leg at Rufaro which they went on to lose 3-1. Realising he had made a mistake, Ferrin went on to introduce the duo in the second half and the combination yielded Angola’s solitary goal through Djalma, as Zimbabwe had already cruised to a 3-0 halftime lead.

According to an Angolan publication Angop, Ferrin, who named his final 21-member squad during a Press conference yesterday, is set to unleash Manucho and Djalma in a pacy attack as they go for goals to overturn their deficit.

Angola know that a 2-0 win will see them through to a fifth consecutive appearance at the Nations Cup final while Zimbabwe can qualify for only their third appearance at Afcon should they avoid a defeat in Luanda.

The other change will see long serving Petro de Luanda goalkeeper Lamá, who guarded goal in the first leg making way for Landu. Ferrin reportedly used the trio in the same team during Thursday’s evening training session where the Press was barred from covering.

“During the training session, to which the Press did not have access, Angop learnt that contrary to what happened in the first leg in Harare, which Angola lose 1-3, the players Landu (goalkeeper), Manucho Gonçalves, Djalma Campos and Manuel, will replace Lamá, Nando Rafael and Amaro,” said the report.

According to reports from Angola, midfielder Geraldo, who plays for Brazil’s Paraná, was the surprise exclusion from the side.

Ferrin also left out Buco (Nacional de Benguela), Paty and Castro (Interclube), Neblu and Paizo (1º de Agosto), Gomito (Recreativo do Libolo) and Vado (Recreativo da Caála).

A carnival atmosphere is expected at the November 11 Stadium tomorrow after reports that on Thursday over 20 000 tickets out of 50 000 had already been sold for the match. The tickets were being sold at 200 Kwanzas (US$2,09), 500 Kwanza ($5,23), 1 000 Kwanzas ($10,46) and 2 000 ($20,92) and 10 000 Kwanzas ($104,58).

Angola’s final 21 man squad: Bastos, Miguel, Lama, Diógenes, Dany, Amaro, Manucho Dias, Mingo Bille, Landu, Pirolito, Fabrício, Yano, Manuel, Lunguinha, Manucho Gonçalves, Djalma, Mateus Galiano, Kivuvu, Zuela, Nando Rafael, Dedé.

Angola’s probable staring XI: Landu, Bastos, Danny a, Lunguinha, Miguel, Manuel, Pirolito, Dominique, Djalma Campos, Mateus Galiano and Manucho Gonçalves.
