FOUR suspects linked to the attempted murder of a Plumtree man had their case transferred from Bulawayo to the Plumtree Magistrates’ Court to allow one of the accused, a 17-year-old boy, to attend classes.

The teenager is a Form Four student at Plumtree Secondary School.
The four, Bongani Sibanda (26), Jumbe Phiri (24), Bernard Sibanda (18) and the 17-year-old juvenile, all from Goba village in Plumtree, have not been asked to plead to the attempted murder charge.
Three of the accused are out of custody on $100 bail, while the juvenile is on free bail.
Bulawayo magistrate Dumisani Moyo on Wednesday transferred the case back to the Plumtree Magistrates’ Court to enable the juvenile to attend classes and his routine remand hearings.
It is the State case that on September 2 this year, the four had a misunderstanding with the complainant, Efford Mpofu, at Mabhikwa shopping centre in the Gomba area.
Circumstances leading to the quarrel were not indicated in court papers.

The State alleged the quarrel soon degenerated into a fight. The suspects allegedly struck Mpofu with an axe on the leg and further attacked him with a knobkerrie on the face and shoulder before punching him with fists.
Mpofu, who sustained serious injuries during the attack, was taken to hospital before the matter was reported to police.
