The toddler died from the poison.

Manicaland deputy provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda said the incident happened on Monday in Zimunya when the baby girl’s parents had left her alone in the bedroom as they attended to other domestic chores.

Chananda identified the infant as Tapiwa Zimunya.

“We are investigating a matter of suspected murder in which unknown people secretly entered into the Zimunyas’ house and fed a poisonous substance to the sleeping three-week-old baby,” Chananda said.
