WARRIORS players will each receive a residential housing stand if they qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations football finals, Minister of Local Government Ignatius Chombo and Mzansi90 fundraising committee chairman George Manyaya confirmed last night.

Chombo said they had been approached by the committee and consulted with the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture and other officials before agreeing to support the Warriors for this important national cause.
“We received a request from the Mzansi90 committee and we have since written back to one of their members (Memory Kanyati) to confirm that we will support the Warriors with the housing stands.
“However, we have said we will only give stands to the players who have been involved in the two matches. And this is over and above what Zifa has promised to pay them if they qualify.”
An elated Manyaya said after last night’s meeting with the minister: “These players are our ambassadors and they deserve to have these stands. We want them to be well incentivised.”
On Monday, the Mzansi90 fundraising committee reached the $300 000 mark after receiving $20 000 from BancABC and $10 000 from CBZ Bank. And yesterday, Marange Resources chipped in with $30 000, Redan Petroleum $10 000, Comoil $1 000, Ustral $5 000, Pentagon $2 000 and TN Bank $5 000.
Farai Jere’s Helcraw donated $5 000 and Aces Youth Academy $1 000. Mbada Diamonds Holdings have poured in $200 000, ZMDC $30 000, Buymore Investments $10 000 and Cuthbert Dube, the Zifa president, $5 000, while various companies have come in with groceries, accommodation and transport pledges, bringing the total to $344 000.

The Warriors are expected to depart for Luanda on Friday night and return home immediately after the match. A dinner dance will be held tomorrow night at a local hotel where tickets are going for $100 per head.
