Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed hospitality concern, Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG), has successfully concluded a memorandum of understanding with FBC Bank targeted at MasterCard holders.

By Business Reporter The partnership, according to a statement issued by RTG, would see MasterCard holders being able to settle all their hotel bills using the card.

“The benefits extended to MasterCard holders include a 10%-20% discount of accommodation rates segmented across the four MasterCard package offerings,” reads part of the statement. “The main objective for the group is to increase the group’s direct revenue streams to overall group revenue.

“Rainbow Tourism Group, is therefore, expecting the use of MasterCard in its hotels to contribute significantly to its occupancy levels, as the group positions itself to be the preferred hospitality partner for FBC and its MasterCard members.”

Rainbow Towers Hotel and Conference Centre has already installed MasterCard point-of-sale (POS) machines at most of its service areas, while the Rainbow Tourism Group central reservations department has also been fully equipped to handle any payments through MasterCard.

“RTG is confident of the success of this new development.

“The group will continue to engage in initiatives that result in an increase in real value obtained by its current, potential or future customers, when they make use of any of the RTG facilities countrywide,” the statement said.

The hospitality concern said it will this year roll out POS machines to all RTG units before the end of the fourth quarter of 2012.

RTG said plans were underway to open the Beitbridge Rainbow Hotel soon.

The group owns A‘Zambezi River Lodge, Victoria Falls Rainbow Hotel, Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel, Kadoma Hotel and Conference Centre and New Ambassador Hotel.

The hotel has begun a head-hunting exercise to replace its former chief executive officer Chipo Mtasa, nearly four months after she resigned. Following Mtasa’s resignation, the group’s finance director Paschal Changunda was appointed acting chief executive.
