Fighting against relegation when a team has not even reached double figures in points from 22 matches is no easy task for any Castle Lager Premier Soccer League team.

Report by Sukoluhle Mthethwa Sports Reporter For Quelaton, the hunger to succeed in this fight is bigger than their fight for the sole ticket into the Premiership last season from the Southern Region Division One league.

As they prepare to meet Monomotapa this afternoon at Luveve Stadium, Quelaton assistant coach Chipo Tsodzo says they were not throwing in the towel yet.

“We are taking each game as it comes and we are not giving up. We will keep on fighting until the end. We missed some players against Blue Rangers through suspension and that affected us as we had to make changes to the team that played Dynamos. We will go into the match as underdogs and we hope we are going to have a good game as Monomotapa are playing very well,” he said.

Timothy January and Gracious Mleya missed the game against Blue Rangers through suspension as they went down 3-1 while their opponents today were on the roll, crushing Hwange 3-0.

The victory against Hwange saw Monomotapa move up to third spot from fourth on Sunday after Highlanders beat Shabanie Mine 1-0 at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday. Monomotapa have 40 points from 22 games.

Despite a good run in the league so far, Monomotapa coach Biggie Zuze conceded that they have a tough task against the Bulawayo side.

“The match against Quelaton is a very tricky fixture. Their morale was high after playing Dynamos, but I think their problems like travelling on the same day affected them against Blue Rangers. But we know they will be difficult to beat at home. It is good that we collected three points on Saturday because we are now third on the log table,” he said.

Zuze said they would rest Artwell Mukandi who is carrying a slight knock after a collision with Hwange’s Rodwell Chinyengetere.

They welcome back Ronald Chitiyo who missed the Hwange encounter through suspension.
