KWEKWE —Tagwirei Mahobo (31) a self-styled prophet in Kwekwe has been jailed for an effective 9 months after he was convicted of attempting to rape one of his patients in Mbizo last month.

Report by Staff Reporter The State, represented by Ruth Madoda, said on August 22 in the morning, Mahobo was called by his victim’s husband to the couple’s home to deal with  personal problems they were facing.

Mahobo went to the house and went about his prayers and prophecies before leaving, but later returned in the evening after the victim’s husband had left for work.

He asked his victim to kneel on the floor and he began praying for her. The court heard Mahobo started fondling the woman’s breasts while he was speaking in tongues, forced the lady to the floor, lifted her skirt and pulled off her pants as he continued praying.

He poured some oil on the woman’s private parts, but was over powered when he attempted to have sex with her.

Magistrate Letween Rwodzi found Mahobo guilty of indecent assault and slapped him with a 12-month jail term before suspending three for five years on condition that during the period he commits no offence involving sexual assault.
