Shoko festival will tonight present a special comedy night that is set to feature an exciting line-up of comedians at Alliance Française.

Report by Simbarashe Manhango Own Correspondent South African comedian John Vlismas will headline the night, performing alongside three of Zimbabwe’s top stand-up comics.

Vlismas is one of the biggest comedians on the continent. He was the inaugural winner of the Stand-up Comedian of the Year award at the South African Comedy Awards in 2007 and is known for his outspoken and observational humour.

Hugely popular comedian Carl Joshua Ncube, who certainly commands a huge following in comic circles will have another night in office and reflect more on his innovativeness and creativity. Ncube has toured Africa with his hilarious style of comedy and tonight will mark his final slot before he leaves to pursue his comedy career in New York.

Comedy buffs can expect to laugh their lungs out courtesy of acts from well-known stand-up comedian Michael “Michael K” Kudakwashe.

Michael K last month rocked the comedy series hosted for a week at Theatre in the Park.

On the line-up is Q the Boss, a dynamic young comedian who is relevant, dramatic and downright funny. The night will witness upcoming comedian Clive Chigubu wrap up the show with his funky jokes that draw from the suburban lifestyle he grew up from.

Chigubu is proving to be a major hit with Harare and Bulawayo audiences with his original stand-up style. Zambezi News is certainly one of the features to expect during this night of laughter.

Featuring highlights from the just-completed first season, this session will be comically presented by the festival founder and director Comrade Fatso, news presenters Mandape Mandape (Outspoken), Jerome Weathers and Kudzaishe Mushayahembe (Michael Kudakwashe) presenting live in studio, while cutting away to ludicrous reports, spoof music videos and cheeky adverts.

Speaking to NewsDay,  Comrade Fatso said: “This ground-breaking show ‘Zambezi News’ is not to be missed. It is a breakthrough new comedy series that has had local and international audiences in stitches.
