The Bulawayo Progressive Residents’ Association (BPRA) will today hold a peace concert at the Bulawayo Large City Hall to mark the World Day of Peace.
Report by Sheryleen Masuku Own Correspondent Organisers of the concert said it will run under the international theme which is “Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future”.
The International Day of Peace is observed worldwide on September 21 every year.
BPRA programmes and advocacy manager Emmanuel Ndlovu said this year his organisation decided to go a step further following a successful peace concert they held last year at White City Stadium.
“BPRA is holding the concert as part of its Residents Building Peaceful Communities Project that aims at instilling a culture of peaceful co-existence among residents in Bulawayo regardless of differences in political persuasion, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity,” said Ndlovu.
“The concert will seek to promote peace and tranquility through music, theatre and dance.”

Ndlovu said there will be an exciting entertainment lineup featuring some of the popular and upcoming artistes from Bulawayo, including Siyaya Arts and Family Voices. A play titled 1983: The Years Before and After will also be staged.
“We will also have music and dance from artistes including Siyaya Arts, Umdumo WeSizwe, Black Umfolosi, Jays Marabini, Willie Watafi, Simon Banda and Family Voices.”
