Caps United coach Taurai Mangwiro has predicted a tough encounter when the Harare giants face off Blue Rangers in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League battle for survival at the National Sports Stadium today.

Report by Tawanda Tafirenyika Sports Correspondent Both teams go into the match on the back of morale-boosting wins over the weekend with Caps United emerging triumphant in Zvishavane following a 2-0 victory over FC Platinum while Partson Ndabambi’s Blue Rangers coasted to a 3-1 win over fellow strugglers Quelaton at Gwanzura.

“It will not be an easy encounter,” said Mangwiro. “We have been playing well of late and that has raised a lot of expectations. We are now expected to continue winning like this.

“Every team that we face now will be a huge challenge because each team now wants to beat us. But I am confident we will come out with a positive result against Blue Rangers.”

Caps United defender Asani Nhongo found the opening goal in their defeat of FC Platinum with a stunning free kick before Leonard Fiyado delivered the killer blow to register their third straight win.

But Caps United will still be without Washington Pakamisa and Edmore Chapfungamoyo who are still nursing injuries. Rahman Kutsanzira is also doubtful for today’s clash after picking up a knock during the match against FC Platinum. But the Harare giants still have a strong squad with Tawanda Munyanduri and Pride Tafirenyika in top form while veteran Shingi Kawondera and David Rediyoni have also proved dangerous coming from the bench.

Ndabambi also remains confident. “We are approaching this game like any other. I don’t think it is special in any way. With the way we are playing I think we are on the right track. If we continue to pick up points like we have been doing recently we have got good chances of surviving,” said Ndabambi. Blue Rangers, will however, be without influential midfielder James Marufu due to suspension.
