Bantu Rovers are back at the top of the Zifa Southern Region Division One football league after dismissing struggling Emakhandeni Pirates 3-0, while in the Central Region Tripple B are simply unstoppable.

Report by Sports Reporters Tshintsha Guluva are now on 48 points from 22 matches and they took advantage of a slip up by How Mine at the weekend as the gold miners were surprised by troubled Hwange side Rufaro Rovers 1-0 in the coal-mining town on Saturday.

ZPC Hwange shot back to position two without kicking a ball after Sizani Fruit and Veg failed to travel to Hwange and they were awarded three points and now have 47 points from 23 matches.

Also getting three points on a silver platter were New West City as Hwange-based Mpumalanga still owe Zifa affiliation fees and they were not fixtured.

New West, on position four, now have 42 points from 23 matches and are also in the picture for the honours at the end of the season.

Railstars drew 0-0 with Tsholotsho FC and remain on position five on the log-standings with 40 points from 23 games.

In the Central Region, Chapungu did Tripple B a big favour by beating second placed Strikers FC 3-1 at the weekend to allow Tshintsha Magiya to open a comfortable 11-point gap at the summit.

Chapungu, who started the season as hot favourites, slumped in form and have been in third position much of the season, and their win against strikers at the weekend effectively made Tripple B’s march to the crown a lot easier.

The Airmen got the better of Strikers in a four-goal dramatic match, which they finished with nine players after Brighton Tuwaya and Maxwell Mavhuto were given marching orders.

At the other side of Gweru, Tripple B edged WhaWha 1-0 in their own backyard to move to 48 points, 11 clear of Strikers who lie second with 37 points.

Strikers, however, have a game in hand as they are still to play Air Stars who failed to fulfill the encounter a couple of weeks ago after being involved in an accident on their way to Beitbridge.
