Eastern Region Division One Football side Hippo Valley progressed into the Silver Dube memorial quarter finals after they dismissed Triangle 1-0 in the first round encounter at Chishamiso Stadium on Sunday.

Report by Sports Correspondent The solitary goal came from Kenny Mageja after the breather and it was sweet revenge for the Taku Shariwa-coached side after they recently lost to Triangle 2-1 in a league match at Gibbo Stadium.

The two sides are locked in a fierce battle for the sole ticket to gain promotion into top-flight football as only two points separate them. With nine matches before the curtain comes down, Triangle are at the summit of the log standings with 52 points from 21 matches and Hippo Valley is occupying second position with 50 points from the same number of matches.

Hippo Valley head coach Taku Shariwa said he was very happy with the result as this will boost his team morale. “l am very happy with the approach which is being shown by my players.  I think if we continue with our focus then it is going to be easier for us at the end of the day, particularly that we are targeting a ticket into the Premier Soccer League,’’ he said.
