Zifa Southern Region Division One football league leaders How Mine will be seeking to stretch their lead as they plot their first appearance in the Premiership when they take on Railstars at the gold mine tomorrow.

Competition has been stiff in the 2012 season with How Mine alternating the top spot with former Premiership side Bantu Rovers and ZPC Hwange, while Railstars still pose a serious challenge for the top three. How Mine narrowly lead the pack with 42 points from 19 games with “Tshintsha Guluva” on the second spot with the same number of games, while ZPC have collected 40 points from 20 matches.

Fourth-placed Railstars have garnered 37 points from 20 games and head coach Tirivaviri Sithole believes competition is still wide. They travel to How Mine tomorrow hoping to pick up maximum points from the log leaders.

“It is game on and we are still in competition. The championship is not yet decided and anyone can win it,” the former Railstars goalkeeper Sithole said.

Sithole will be banking on top strikers Novas Nyasulu, Handsome Moyo and attacking midfielders Blessing Ngwenya and Master Mlangeni as he seeks to close the gap on How Mine. Peter Mpofu will be between the goal posts with skipper Lindelani Ncube, Gift Mwale and Victor Gombedzi covering up for him in defence.

How Mine gaffer Jeremiah Makote said they were taking each game as it came and the championship would be decided at the end of the season.
