Injury-free Warriors are ready to do battle against Zambia in an international friendly match at the new Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, about 319km from the capital Lusaka, tonight.

The game kicks off at 1800hrs.

Speaking from Ndola last night, team manager Nyika Chifamba said they had no injury worries ahead of the match.

“We arrived this morning (yesterday) and we are training at 6pm which is also the game time tomorrow (today). We have no injuries in camp and everybody is ready,” he said. “The boys have said they want to continue with their good performances from the tri-nations series that we took part in in Botswana last month.”

He added: “We need to sharpen our team ahead of the Angola match. The only problem here is the distance between Ndola and Lusaka.”

The Warriors are booked at the same hotel with Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe who are playing a friendly at the weekend.

Mandla Sibanda of Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) in the be Mobile League is the only foreign-based player in the team, while the likes of Highlanders duo Innocent Mapuranga and Peter Rio Moyo will be looking for their first appearances in national colours.

“I am really looking forward to the game and hope I will be given a chance to play,” Moyo said.

The match will be preceded by another friendly between the Mighty Warriors and the Zambia women national team, which starts at 3pm. Football Association of Zambia spokesperson Erick Mwanza told fazfootball.com that all was set for the international friendly matches.

“We are very grateful to our immigration and security officers at the Kariba border post who assisted our brothers and sisters from Zimbabwe very well. Preparations for the two games — the ladies’ game which will kick off at 15:00hours and the men’s game at 18:00hrs — are progressing very well,” Mwanza said, adding: “It’s a great opportunity for the fans to see two international matches for the price of one ticket which is K10 000 and K20 000.”

Zambia’s head coach Hervé Renard has called up Mwape Musonda of Konkola Mine Police and Stanley Nshimbi of Red Arrows.

Teenager Juma Mutale of Kabwe Inter Sport was also recently called-up to the squad after he had impressed for the Central Province Airtel Rising Stars team.

However, Winston Kalengo, John Chingandu and Charles Siyingwa were not allowed to join their colleagues in camp after they reported late. Warriors squad
