Hardbody gaffer Godfrey Tamirepi collected his first set of maximum points when his side edged Buffaloes in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.
Tamirepi replaced Tavaka Gumbo two weeks ago after a string of poor results. His first match was against the same side two weeks ago they lost 2-0 at Ascot.
Yesterday, it took just eight minutes for the visitors to find the net through Brian Juru from the penalty spot.
Tamirepi was ecstatic after the match.
“It was a good performance from my side. They played very well from the very outset and did not lose concentration throughout the match. And I’m very happy to collect maximum points since our position on the log standings is not good,’’ he said. His counterpart Saul Chaminuka admitted his side did not play well.
‘’Well, this is football; they did well to defend their lead. We beat them in their own backyard and today (yesterday) they surprised us. This is what football is like and I believe we did not play well,’’ he said.
Buffaloes defender Joseph Jambo handled inside his box in the eighth minute and referee Norman Matemera did not hesitate to point to the spot and up stepped Juru to send the soldiers goalkeeper Hopeful Bere the wrong side.
