Three brothers — all temporary teachers in Zhombe — are in trouble after they “ran amok” and savagely attacked another man who is now battling for life at Kwekwe General Hospital for as yet unknown reasons.

The Mjonono brothers — Jabavu (27), Tamsanga (23) and Gregory (22), who, according to their lawyer James Magodora, are temporary teachers, appeared before magistrate Tendai Muchini on Tuesday facing charges of assault and malicious damage to property. The three allegedly attacked Morgan Moyo with empty beer bottles, knobkerries and snooker pool sticks at Tagarira Bar at Zororo Business Centre bottle store in Zhombe last week.

According to court records, the brothers, who were drinking beer at a bottle store in Mnetwa village, allegedly assaulted Moyo to the extent that he had to seek refuge in a cold room.

“They attacked him with every weapon which was at their disposal, empty bottles, knobkerries and pool sticks all over. He is now seeking medical attention so a medical report cannot be produced at this stage,” reads part of the charge sheet. The trio even went further to break the pool table and furniture in the bar, including windows and doors as they descended on the defenseless Moyo.

Tagarira bottle store barman Jonathan Kabisa told the court that the three destroyed property worth $1 231 in their “moment of madness”. The three were remanded out of custody on $100 bail each to August 15.
