A 45-year-old self-proclaimed faith healer, who allegedly sexually abused his 29-year-old married church mate under the pretext of “fixing her uterus” to cure her infertility, is reportedly on the run after defaulting trial at the Harare Magistrates Court.

Paul Mwakaereni of Lusaka, Highfield, was recently issued with a warrant of arrest by regional magistrate Estere Chivasa after failing to appear in court for continuation of trial.

The court heard that on June 24 last year, the woman, who is reported to be barren, visited Mwakaereni at his home where she had been invited to collect some medicine to cure her condition.

It is alleged upon arrival at Mwakaereni’s home, she entered his room and Mwakaereni closed the door claiming he wanted confidentiality.

The court heard that Mwakaereni then ordered the woman to remove her blouse after which he proceeded to apply oil on her nipples, abdomen and back.

After that the court heard, Mwakaereni ordered the woman to remove her tight panties claiming he wanted to carry out an examination on her private parts and dipped his two fingers in oil before inserting them inside her womanhood.

Mwakaereni allegedly advised the woman that he had diagnosed her problem to be linked to her uterus which had turned upside down and offered to “fix it”.

The court heard that he allegedly smeared oil on his private parts and pushed the woman on the floor after which he sexually attacked her and promised he had healed her in the process.

However, although Mwakaereni had ordered the woman not to disclose his treatment methods to anyone, the woman informed her husband and the matter was reported to the police leading to his arrest.
