A 60–year-old Bulawayo man has landed himself in trouble after he repeatedly assaulted his wife accusing her of denying him his conjugal rights during the last six years.
Sipho Ncube of Tshabalala was convicted on his own plea of guilty to physical assault when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Richard Ramaboea.
The court ordered him to undergo marriage counselling and remanded the matter to August 16 for sentence.
State counsel Fiona Denhere told the court that Ncube and the complainant, Bokang Nare (58), have been married for the past 23 years, but do not have children together although the wife has her own children from a previous marriage.
The court heard that for the past six years they were cooking and sleeping separately although they stayed in the same house.
Denhere said the situation deteriorated on Friday last week when Ncube came home drunk and found his wife cooking her own food.
He went on to open the pot, prompting Nare to enquire from him why he had opened her pot.
Ncube got angry and confronted her.
