The start of the 2012 edition of the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) National League has been set for August 25. Winners of the competition will represent the country in the Zone V1 Club Championships set for Zambia later this year.

Defending champions in the men’s league Railstars, Hawks, Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe, Stanbic Thunder, Support Unit and Non Academic Bachelors’ Association are the men’s teams in the league.

ZRP Raiders, Highlanders, Midlands State University and Jewels from Harare are the teams expected to battle it out in the women’s category. ZVA administrator Sibangani Mashasha said: “The national league is starting on August 25. We are expecting the league to be more exciting and competitive because top teams will be fighting to represent the country in the Zone V1 Championships,” he said.

“Last year we did not have the women’s league, but we are happy that we are going to have it this year and that will give the teams chances to compete. We are still to confirm the name of the other team for the women’s league.”
