In what could be a big homecoming event, Sungura maestro Alick Macheso promises to put up a fabulous show for his multitudes of fans at Pamuzinda Highway Escape on August 18.

He will clash with reggae artist Jah Prayzah, and this will be the fourth time for the two to play at the same venue this year.

The show, organised by Savannah in conjunction with music promoter Patrick Chimbodza, is expected to be a sellout after Macheso took a five-week break from the local scene.

He was wooing his Diaspora fans in Britain where he performed together with Music superstar Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi in London and Leicester.

Macheso also toured South Africa and performed alongside Zimbabwe-born, but Mzanzi-based urban groove artist Enoch “Nox” Guni.

Macheso’s manager William Tsandukwa told NewsDay that he was happy that their shows proceeded well.

“We have been away for five weeks and now we are back home and I am happy that everything went according to plan. Right now we will be concentrating on our local schedule and partnership with some of our local finest. Without doubt one of the major shows to look out for will be the Pamuzinda concert and with the artists on the lineup you can expect fireworks,” Tsandukwa said.

Jah Prayzah said: “Macheso is always amazing to work with when you are a supporting act. He is one of those inspiring musicians who will call you on stage during his performance to join him on his songs. He would do the same when you are on stage and perform your song with near perfection just to show that he listens to other artists and this raises one’s esteem and I enjoy every moment when I get the honour to perform alongside him.”

Meanwhile, Macheso will resume his local shows on Friday at New Life Bar, Budiriro, Harare, and makes a date with families at a show slated for Mega 1 on Sunday.
